Behind the Scenes with Event Planner Traci Howard, Owner of Jane Carol Events

When Traci Howard, owner of Jane Carol Events started JCE, she knew she was turning a hobby into a business. Traci thought her passion for design and planning parties would drive her success. After more than five years in the business, she admits she was completely wrong. Her success derived from her love of making the planning process stress-free for the bride, groom and their families. Traci continues to use this love to fuel her success and has helped numerous brides and grooms plan their perfect wedding.

Behind the scenes is exactly where Traci prefers to hang out. I was honored when she agreed to do an interview with me to take a deeper look into her passion and success.

What made you want to become a wedding planner?

” My mom. My mom always wanted me to become a wedding planner. After helping a good friend with his daughter’s wedding, I decided to take that big step to make my mom’s dream, and my dream, a reality.”

What is your favorite part of the wedding planning process?

” Alleviating the stress from the bride, the groom and the family. This is such a special time for all of them and my goal is to take on the things they do not need to be bogged down with so they can enjoy the celebration part of this process. “

Why should an engaged couple hire a planner?

“To save them time, money, work and a ton of stress. I often find when visiting with couples that they have the big picture vision solidified but when we start talking logistics and details, those things are often missed. That is where I, as a planner can be of help. Working out logistics and timelines, things that are behind the scenes which is where I like to be. “

What advice can you offer to someone who is just starting to plan their wedding?

” Don ‘t do it, let me do it. [laughs] In all seriousness, couples often think they have the time to make their wedding plans and not the money in their budget. I encourage couples to consider meeting with a planner to discuss their vision, budget and needs before making the decision to forgo a wedding planner. Hiring a planner is well worth it, trust me. “

What questions should a couple be prepared to ask during a consultation with their planner?

“I think it’s important that the couple ask about the planner ‘s approach to planning a wedding. My goal is to take the overall vision and make it happen within the wedding budget and to do so without putting stress on the bride and groom. As with anything else, a couple should feel comfortable with their planner.”

What is one thing you always have with you on a wedding day?

” Are you kidding me, I have everything! I probably overthink what we may need but I’d rather be overly prepared than not have something we might need.”
